Soyala: Daughter of the Desert

Set in the desert southwest at the end of the 13th century, this is a multi-generational story of a family during a time of societal turmoil and personal tragedy. The struggle ends when the family is forced to abandon its home, and travel into an unknown future. Based on the archaeological record, the drama plays out in the land of sage, sun, and sandstone.

What would it be like to live in the American Southwest during the great migration at the end of the 13th century, long before European incursion? The question haunted me. After over a year of research I let my imagination run free. This manuscript, two years in the making, is the result. Working title is "Soyala: Daugher of the Desert."
